Born in Belitung, February 5, 1956
Mr. Yusril Ihza Mahendra is a Professor of State Administration Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia. He earned his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Indonesia (1976-1983) and continued his study in Law and Islamic Science at Post-Graduate program of the same university (1984). And then Mr. Yusril continued his study at Graduate School of Humanities and Social Science, University of Punjab in Pakistan (1985). He afterwards studied in another Post-Graduate program until he received his Master of Science (M.Sc) degree and directly continued his study to earn his Doctoral degree (Ph.D) in the Institute of Post Graduate Studies, Science University of Malaysia (1990-1993).
Before establishing the firm, he held various distinguished positions such as the Head of Legal Expert Team at the Information Investigation and Service Center of House of Representatives of Republic of Indonesia; Research Staff at the Moslem Research Institution for Society Research and Development; Staff at the State Secretary Office of Republic of Indonesia; Member of Intellectual Group Representative of People’s Consultative Assembly of Republic of Indonesia; Globalization Effect Team Expert at National Research Council Expert; Assistant of State Secretary Minister on Special Issue; and the Member of House of Representatives of Republic of Indonesia. He was a lecturer at several universities, such as the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia; Muhammadiyah University; Academy of Community Study, Department of Justice of Republic of Indonesia. Prof. Yusril also served as same for Post-Graduate Program at several universities, such as University of Indonesia; Muhammadiyah University; and Jayabaya University. For his extensive knowledge, Prof. Yusril Ihza had been asked to be the speakers for many seminars and workshops in both national and international level. And we can also find several books that he has written including articles in varied international journals, magazines and newspapers.
The Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Republic of Indonesia is the position he had been trusted for as well. Presently, Prof. Yusril Ihza is appointed as the State Secretary Minister of Republic of Indonesia. The respective position leads him to be officially non-active in this law firm.
The area of practices of Prof. Yusril comprises Comparative Law, Administrative Law, Legislative Practice, Government Relations, Parliamentary Relations, Intellectual Property Rights, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
